About Kathy White Yoga

Hi, I’m Kathy White.

With a dash of humour, a few grey hairs of experience, and a whole lot of love, I'm here to guide you on your journey for better joint health and more mobility in your later years.

My relationship with Yoga has always been profound. After moving to the spiritual community of Findhorn, I experienced the heartbreaking loss of my first child when I was 31, and it was yoga that saved me. For me, yoga has always been a lifeline.

After training to be a classical hatha yoga teacher I went back to University and became a psychotherapist. And also studied The Work with Byron Katie.

These trainings, plus the influence of Scaravelli, brought a new depth to my yoga teaching style. And I added beauty, stillness, freedom, and the natural intelligence of the body to how I taught.

Fast forward a decade and I found myself on the brink of burnout, I now had two children, was struggling to balance work/life with my coaching and therapy work, and teaching yoga. So, I did what seemed the only sensible thing to do - I dropped out, moved with my husband and kids to the remote Scottish island of Erraid for a year, where we had a completely different life!

During that year, I didn’t teach any yoga, and kept only a few coaching clients. Mentally I de-stressed, but I began to notice that my body was starting to feel old. My joints were stiff, and my yoga practice was not helping. I wasn't yet 50, I was perimenopausal and suffering from a lot of joint pain.

On a family trip to Hawaii and Canada with a kind of reckless abandon, I picked up yoga again and dove headfirst into exploring every different style of yoga I could find.

Yet, something was still missing in my practice.

Then I discovered Kaiut Yoga. This radical holistic method, developed by a Brazilian chiropractor, focuses first and foremost on the regulation of the nervous system for healing.

Almost immediately I began to see changes in my joint health, and experienced joint regeneration. It was a complete game-changer for me.

Armed with this newfound knowledge, I founded my unique Joint Renewal System by continuing to offer the beauty of Scaravelli-inspired yoga with Kaiut Yoga class plans as my foundation.

This method has become my secret key to aging gracefully!

What is yoga about for me? I believe that yoga is not just about your practice on the mat;

Yoga is about life.

There is no point in doing fancy yoga poses if they injure your body. Yoga needs to have a purpose. It needs to meet a need. It needs to be functional.

I teach my Joint Renewal System to help those over 50 stay flexible and active as they grow older and keep doing what they love for as long as possible.

I want my students to know: To keep your joints supple and mobile as you age is both possible and to be expected.

The wisdom of yoga that has been passed from teacher to student for 1000’s of years is timeless.

It is my wish to live by the wisdom that is contained in the beautiful philosophy and spiritual teachings. There is incredible power, transformation and healing available within the practice of yoga.

Especially for the aging body, especially to those who want to live long, and live well.

My students learn to be kind and beautiful in their practice. To love each moment of being in the body. To smile.

And if you don’t love your body yet... be gentle as yoga will help you love it

And little by little the deep spiritual understanding of yoga and the path to longevity will be revealed through these beautiful body postures that bring you to consciousness itself.

The practice of yoga teaches you to be very, very present to everything you feel, notice and see. And the gift of yoga is how this extends well beyond your yoga mat into your life and the lives of those around you.

I believe that our bodies need yoga more than ever, and our planet needs those of us who are willing to transform more than ever.

Yes, Yoga transforms.

I've seen it in my own life. I've seen it in my students. Over the decades of teaching, I have seen what works and what doesn't work for the aging body.

For folks over 50 who want to stay active but are starting to feel your age - bones are creaking, joints are stiff and maybe even in pain, then I'd love to support you and show you how you can start moving freely again.

I love to share this profoundly simple yet incredible powerful way to regain mobility and flexibility. I want you to keep your mobility and lifestyle that you love, and as you grow older in years, stay young in body.

Gratitude...

I want to express my deep gratitude and love for the many teachers from whom I have learnt so much about yoga: Sivananda, Vanda Scaravelli, Louise Simmons, Diane Long, Sophy Hoare, Sandra Sabatini, Michal Havkin, Ayla Sarnoff, Cris Prengle and for the past seven years, Francisco Kaiut.

Among those incredible teachers who have taught me so much about consciousness and the nature of reality I want to mention: Byron Katie, Adyashanti, Tony Parsons, Jac O'Keefe, Gabor Mate, Dr. Richard Schwartz, Alan Watts, my P.A.T teachers... and the biggest teacher of all: Life itself.

And the greatest teacher of all: life itself
